Breakfast with Georgia

Many a guest at The Hacienda Nicholas Bed & Breakfast is a self-proclaimed 'foodie', coming to Santa Fe to explore not just the arts and architecture that make Santa Fe a unique destination, but also for the food culture.  We serve a number of local dishes at the inn, much to the delight of our guests, and know that many visitors also take advantage of the wide array of cooking classes at the Santa Fe School of Cooking.

For those of you interested in cuisine, here is another opportunity to learn about our local food culture from an artist's perspective.  On Monday, April 4, the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum is offering "Breakfast with O'Keeffe".  The featured speaker is Margaret Wood, who was O'Keeffe's companion for five years, and wrote the book A Painter's Kitchen: Recipes from the Kitchen of Georgia O'Keeffe.   Margaret Wood will speak on the reclusive artist's views on food, life, art and the world from 8:30-9:30am, and a continental breakfast will be served to all attendees.

Apparently O'Keeffe, known for her bold and innovative paintings of the Southwest, brought her creativity into the kitchen as well.  Her menu was always quite varied, with great focus on homegrown and simple, highly nutritious meals.  It is not surprising that there was also a great deal of attention placed on the aesthetics of  food presentation.

Please note that this event will take place around the corner from the museum itself, at the Georiga O'Keeffe Museum Education Annex at 123 Grant Street.  There is no admission fee, but guests are asked to please call 505.946.1039 to make advance reservations.
