Trey McIntyre Project Makes Santa Fe Debut
The extraordinary Trey McIntyre Project makes its Santa Fe debut on April 12 at the Lensic Performing Arts Center. Guests of The Hacienda Nicholas Bed & Breakfast Inn will want to buy their tickets now, as sales are brisk. The contemporary dance company, known for its athletic and innovative choreography, began in 2005 as a summer touring group. They were received with such enthusiasm that in just a few short years they have grown to become one of the most highly sought-after dance companies in the country today.
The highlight of the evening will be "Ma Maison", created in collaboration with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band of New Orleans, LA. The rousing romp brings together the unique musical sounds of New Orleans with decidedly fresh and ground-breaking choreography, evoking a vibrant funeral procession. Dancers wear bright colors and skeleton masks, along the lines of the well-known (in Santa Fe) El Día de los Muertos costumes.
The Trey McIntyre Project is known for its innovative blend of classical ballet with powerful and hip street moves, accompanied by a range of musical styles, from classical to rock. The work is challenging to those expecting traditional ballet, and even expands the limits of contemporary ballet. For those of you who hunger relentlessly to challenge the status quo, The Trey McIntyre Project is a must-see.
Tickets are $25-$50 and may be purchased by calling 505.988.1234 or online at TicketsSantaFe.org.
