Tiffany & Company's Best Kept Secret
I am recommending that guests coming through Albuquerque on their way to or from The Hacienda Nicholas Bed & Breakfast Inn take the time to visit the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History. The museum has the distinct honor of showcasing an incredible museum show that has not been seen outside of New York City, the Netherlands and Germany - A New Light on Tiffany - on display now through August 21, 2011.
Visitors will get to ooh and awe over breathtakingly beautiful Tiffany glass - including 60 stunning lamps, from the much vaunted Dragonfly motif to the Peacock, Daffodil and Wisteria designs. Not only will viewers get the rare opportunity to see this exhibit, they will learn in great detail a never-before-known fact - that many of these brilliant designs are actually the work of a woman (!!!) - Clara Discoll. This well-kept secret of Tiffany & Co. was not revealed until 2005, when a number of her letters were discovered by two historians in two different locations.
Along with the displays, one can learn some of the technical aspects of how these stunning works of stained glass were created, as well as peek into the life of Clara Driscoll in early 20th century New York.
